Explore Moose Mountains is a grassroots, non-profit initiative to promote the WONDERFUL businesses, destinations, and events in the Moose Mountains Region of New Hampshire. It’s parent entity, Wentworth Economic Development Corporation, is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) regional economic development corporation founded in 1993 for the sole purpose of promoting economic growth in the eastern Lakes Region.

It began in 2014 when a group of engaged citizens contacted Strafford Regional Planning Commission (SRPC) for technical assistance related to regional tourism.

These individuals were interested in encouraging tourists to explore the unique scenic, historic, agricultural, recreational and cultural offerings off NH Routes 16 and 11 in the towns of Brookfield, Farmington, Middleton, Milton, New Durham, Wakefield, and Wolfeboro.  Ideas and strategies to accomplish these goals were flushed out over a series of visioning sessions and meetings beginning in September 2014.

Volunteers continued to meet after these initial sessions and stated their mission as “providing information and support to residents, local businesses, and decisionmakers by promoting and marketing the wide range of community assets in the Moose Mountains Region. These assets include scenic, historic, agricultural, recreational, and cultural resources.”

To date Explore Moose Mountains (EMM), has made significant strides, building upon the original ideas and goals from the initial visioning sessions and meetings. In 2016 EMM received a New Hampshire Charitable Foundations (NHCF) grant, which has supported recent operations, including the launching of this website and the EMM Facebook page, @TheMooseNH and creation of marketing and promotional materials.

The dedicated volunteers of EMM continue their work, encouraging adventurers near and far to explore the pristine beauty and rural charm that is the Moose Mountains Region of New Hampshire.
