Cautionary Tale/Good News Story
Have you ever seen a story about an animal in distress from having gotten stuck in trash?
A bear with a jar on their head?
A deer with a tire on their antlers?

And, you think, Thats so sad but also Thats not here.
Well, that second thought was not the case for Laura Power today.

Just over in Milton Mills she encountered this sad skunk, jar stuck on their head, in her yard.

What to do?
Well, after she witnessed it spray all over the yard (out of fear), she figured it did not have anything left so she walked up, grabbed the jar and pulled till it came off after which the skunk walked off into the woods.

The feel good of the story is clear -
we applaud Laura for taking action in what was absolutely a precarious situation.
(how many of us would have done the same?)

And, the caution? Well, that comes to the trash.
These unfortunate situations not only actually happen but they can (and do) happen right here in our region and state.

Understanding litter laws, setting up reliable trash pick up and even getting involved in community clean ups are important steps to help minimize such occurrences (as well as helping keep less animals wandering into yards for food sources, decreasing rodent populations and generally improving the aesthetics of the place we live and love).

In fact, we heard a Dont Trash Milton volunteer group recently started in Milton, NH.
